The birthday we are celebrating is that of @here4nails on Instagram. She came up with this April Challenge. I took 2 things into consideration when deciding on this manicure. I wanted to use nude colors, since we are all born naked. Also, the April birthstone is diamond, so I wanted to make a dripping with diamonds effect.

My inspiration came from a manicure I saw in Nail It magazine that I have always wanted to recreate.

Here is a shot of the article.

I knew I needed a few different sizes of rhinestones, so I found these in my stash.

I chose a mix of polishes to get the look as well.

I started out with a base of Julep’s Grace. This is 2 coats.

I added Zoya’s Trixie to the tips for a modernized update to the classic French design.

On one half of my nail, I added some sparkle. Wet N Wild’s Fergie collection in New Years Kiss is perfect because the glitter specks are tiny.

I added more chunky glitter using Sally Girl’s silver glitter mini polish.

After that, I randomly placed rhinestones all over the glitter and silver stripe.

Here is the finished product. I really love it, and I’m kind of sad that I will have to take it off in a few days in order to do the next manicure in the challenge.

I’m thinking of varying this manicure with different accent colors for the stripe and rhinestones. What color combos would you like to see me try?
